Journey Begins on HPC Hunger Game

Matrix used to be my favorite movie but I just found new inspiration in "The Hunger Game".

If the bow and arrow helps Katniss Everdeen survive the brutal Hunger Game and remain the last one standing (well, plus Peeta Mellark, her partner), the new secret weapon for our utlra-competitive game of innovation and competitiveness, is high performance computing and skills to master it. I will call it the HPC Hunger Game.

In the quest to stay competitive in business and research innovation, gaining information, knowledge and insight one-step ahead of competition is no longer a luxury but a must. Building computers powerful enough to quickly process large volume of data has become a 21st century challenge. Likewise, data-analytical skills are in high demand to analyze the explosive amount of data and information.

The US Council for Competitiveness has identified High Performance Computing (HPC) as a key technology to advance US competitiveness in the future.

In its most recent report, “The New Secret Weapon”, the Council notes that “Supercomputing is part of the corporate arsenal to beat rivals by staying one step ahead of the innovation curve. It allows companies to design products and analyze data in ways once unimaginable”.

The report further identifies that “modeling, simulation and massive data analysis are the next huge game changing drivers for innovation. HPC lets companies collapse their design and prototyping process. That’s important for advanced industrial countries like the U.S. that can’t compete on wages and to be at the frontier of discovery”

The report declared: “…to out-compete economically, one must out-compute the competition…”

Do you want to remain the last one standing in our own Hunger Game?  The world will be watching.

Today I answer yes to the question, and I volunteer to start my journey in the GAME, from district America. I will be seeking for partner warriors,  mentors, sponsors and mostly supporters from general public.

And I welcome you to join me in my journey in the journey, even just be a spectator in the GAME and cheer us on.

May the odds be ever in my favor!
